Gangtok to Lachen Taxi – Private SUV to North Sikkim
Lachen is the North Sikkim base for Gurudongmar Lake, Thangu and Chopta Valley. You cannot start that road from Bagdogra in a random city cab. Permits are issued against a Gangtok itinerary and a registered tourist SUV.
A Gangtok to Lachen taxi is about 115–125 km and takes 6 to 7 hours. Most guests land at Bagdogra the previous day, sleep in Gangtok, then leave early for Lachen.
Darjeeling Sikkim Taxi provides a private SUV, Protected Area Permit help, hotel pickup in Gangtok, and the same car for the lake the next morning if you want the package.

If you have two nights, do Lachen first (lake at dawn), then cross to Lachung for Yumthang. That is the standard North Sikkim taxi package.
If you only want flowers and Zero Point, book Gangtok to Lachung instead.

Seven Sisters Falls and river gorges sit on this road. Ask the driver for a short stop; do not turn it into a sightseeing day if you need to reach Lachen before dark.
Departure: leave Gangtok by 7:00–8:00 AM. A noon start means a night arrival and a ruined lake morning.
