Zero Point is not a separate destination
You cannot “check in at Zero Point” or start from Bagdogra. The product is:
Lachung → Yumthang → Zero Point → Lachung
(or onward to Chungthang / Gangtok if quoted)

Route and timing

- Stop in Yumthang (photos, tea, hot springs if you want a short walk)
- Climb toward Zero Point
- Limited time at the top — wind, cold, thin air
- Descend to Lachung before the afternoon freeze or fog
Leave by 6:30 AM. A 9:00 AM start often means you only see Yumthang.
Do not pair Zero Point with a Bagdogra flight the same day.

Permits and closures
- PAP must list the Yumthang–Zero Point belt.
- Carry original ID (passport + RAP for foreigners).
- Foreign guests are generally allowed Zero Point when the road is open.
- Gurudongmar is a different valley (from Lachen) and stays closed to foreigners.
The last stretch can close for:
- Fresh snow or black ice
- Landslide
- Local / military restriction
We check the evening you reach Lachung. No honest operator promises Zero Point a week in advance in January.
Vehicle and fitness
SUV only. Sedans do not belong on this climb.
Zero Point is much higher than Lachung hotel height. Walk slowly, skip alcohol the night before, and tell the driver if anyone feels unwell. The correct move is to stop at Yumthang, not to force the last kilometres.
Children and elders can go if they acclimatised in Gangtok and Lachung. Same-day airport-to-Zero-Point is unsafe planning.
