Why book a private taxi from Bagdogra to Pelling?
Shared jeeps from Siliguri generally run toward Gangtok or Namchi, not to a Pelling hotel door. A prepaid hatchback at the airport may drop you short of West Sikkim or refuse the last climb.

You do not need to go via Gangtok unless you want a night there. Direct IXB–Pelling is the normal product.
Best landing window: before 2:00 PM. A 5:00 PM arrival means the last hour into Pelling is in the dark on a winding climb. We still operate 24×7; we would rather you know the trade-off.
NJP pickup adds only a short city hop and uses the same highway after Siliguri.

Do you need a permit for Pelling?
Pelling town, Pemayangtse, Rabdentse, the Skywalk and Khecheopalri do not need a North Sikkim Protected Area Permit.
You still:
- Carry original photo ID for the Melli / Rangpo entry check
- May need extra permits only if you add Nathula, Tsomgo or Lachen / Lachung later in the trip
Foreign guests need the usual Restricted Area Permit to enter Sikkim; that is handled at the border or through a registered operator, not as a special Pelling paper.

West Sikkim roads are steep but not in the same class as Gurudongmar. A sedan is acceptable in dry months. In a monsoon or if you continue to Yuksom/Dentam the next day, start with an SUV.
How Bagdogra Airport pickup works
- Share flight number, landing time, headcount, and Pelling hotel.
- Pay a small advance.
- Receive driver name, photo, and vehicle number.
- Meet at arrivals with the placard.
- Drive Sevoke → Teesta → Melli → Jorethang → Pelling.
If the flight is delayed, the cab waits. The same team picks up from NJP and Siliguri.

Do not force Bagdogra → Pelling → Lachung in one day. That is two different hill systems.
